This session in the Arizona desert showed off that warm, golden glow I love- the perfect setting for capturing portraits of this beautiful couple and their two adorable huskies, Avery & Rory.
When shooting with pets, it’s crucial to work with a photographer who is experienced in working with animals. Dogs can get easily spooked or distracted, so having someone who knows how to get their attention (treats are always a hit!) and keep them calm and comfortable makes all the difference. The result is natural, relaxed images that truly showcase the bond between humans and their canine companions.
But a great pet photographer does more than just wrangle the animals – they also know how to flatter both the two-legged and four-legged subjects. Just like humans have our best angles, dogs do too. An experienced pro will position the pups to capture them at their most photogenic, whether that’s a cute head tilt, playful prance, or gaze into the distance. The end product is a gallery that makes everyone – people and pets alike – look absolutely stunning.
Pro tip: Bring a dog handler or friend along to the session to hold the pups while you get some couple or family photos without the dogs. That way you can capture some intimate portraits of just the two (or three or four!) of you, while ensuring your furry friends stay happy and well-behaved.
This couple was a dream to work with. Their love for each other and their pups was so evident, and they were total naturals in front of the camera. I loved how the rich, warm tones of the desert complemented their classic, elegant style. And of course, the huskies were stars of the show!
If you’re planning a portrait session that includes your furry family members, be sure to find a photographer who specializes in pet photography. They’ll know all the tips and tricks to get amazing shots while keeping your animals relaxed and happy. Then you can cherish those memories for years to come!
