I got to celebrate spring with this adorable mother/daughter duo at Four Silos Farm in Gilbert, Arizona. It had rained for multiple days before this session, leaving the grove wet & muddy, but the sun came out just for us!! We were able to sneak around to find dry ground and you’d never know that we battled mud to get these beautiful images! They were SUCH good sports and we had a blast together!
What to wear- colors
N & L wore beautiful spring shades of light pink and sage green dresses- one of my favorite combinations. When choosing dresses for ladies (and little ladies), try to make sure that each person gets their own color. Then, make sure those colors complement each other in soft shades like this mother and daughter.
Tip: When in doubt, you can always put one person in white and another person in a soft color.
What to wear- jackets
Another stroke of brilliance was their choice in jackets. It was chilly during this session so we rotated wearing jackets and not wearing jackets. They could have easily matched their jackets, but instead the coordinated (the key to success!). Notice that they both wore jean jackets, but each in a different shade of denim. This gave each of them a uniqueness to their look while still coordinating.
Tip: For chilly weather, you can do two different shades of the same fabric for jackets (like N & L in their denim jackets here) or you could put one in denim and another in a neutral-colored sweater for a different texture. Both look great!
Making kids feel special
The side bonus to photo sessions that feature just one of your children is how special they feel during the session! Little L LOVED having this special time with just her mom and she had a blast! All of those smiles and cuddles are so genuine that it just makes me smile looking at them. 🙂
